They have a strong, sweet, and aromatic flavor and are commonly used as a spice in cooking and baking. Cloves are often used in savory dishes such as stews, curries, and marinades, as well as in sweet dishes such as cakes, cookies, and fruit desserts. They are also used in pickling and preserving.
